This quick exercise will help to get you started on your modern intention setting.
Jot down some answers to the following questions:
- What do you love?
- What does the world need?
- What are you good at?
- Who will pay you for the above?
Don’t spend too long thinking about the answers, just respond with an open fluid mind. Say your answers aloud and notice how true they feel for you. Do they feel right in your gut and heart, not just your thinking mind?
Look at the answers you’ve written and circle some key words or phrases that resonate with you. Next, underline or highlight some key words or phrases that chime with you. Then see if you can shape those into short, concise intentions.
Write them in the present tense as if they are a true right now.
So for example, instead of saying “I must go for a run every morning to lose weight and get fit”, replace it with a sankalpa-inspired intention which says “I feel good”. And who knows, you might just go running every morning but something else might also come into your life to help build that healthier, happier you:
